Name
Aarti Lodhia.
Role at Desi Masti
Kathak Teacher, Student and Performer.
Achievements
My biggest achievement is being able to pass on the knowledge that I have gained through learning classical dance. Teaching at Desi Masti and being part of such a great team is something I am grateful to be part of.
My other notable achievements are: Opening the show for Desi Masti’s Celebration of 2006 at De Montfort Hall, performing at the NEC and at the ‘Get Connected’ event in Leicester about Hindu culture for which I appeared on the front cover of a special feature in the Leicester Mercury. I have also achieved my Grade 6 in Vocal from the Guildhall School of Music which I am extremely proud of.
Finally, having graduated from a leading university centre for sciences, I am about to embark on a postgraduate teaching qualification at a leading establishment in my specialist field, which I’m confident will lead to significant future achievements.
Most Memorable Experience
Performing at the Phoenix Arts Theatre at the age of 6 is something I shall never forget; the first time on stage for anyone is an overwhelming experience. Also, seeing my junior Kathak students performing for the first time at Desi Masti’s Celebration 2005 show at Athena, I was thrilled and extremely proud of all of them.
Inspiration
My parents have been my inspiration for dancing and performing since I started learning Kathak at the age of 6. They have motivated me and encouraged me to be the best I can and still do to this day. I am extremely thankful to them for all their help and support.
Ambitions
To become an accomplished and professional Kathak dancer.
